4. Easier to repair.
5. Easier cooler.
6. High voltage high power application.
7. Less insulation required for same voltage rating.
8. More copper required.
9. Winding surround the core.   

  Shell type :-    

1. More difficult to construct.
2. More mechanical support.
3. Less leakage flux.
4. Difficult to repair.
5. Lesser Colling.
6. Low voltage low power application.
7. More insulation.
8. Less copper required.
9. Core surround the winding
